This workshop has been cancelled. In this workshop, students will build a simple box with a cradle-hinged lid and secure catch.  The class will focus on the start-to-finish fabrication of a tight, sturdy, 5-knuckle cradle hinge – a task which requires precise measuring, cutting, and soldering.  This class is a great way to level-up fabrication skills, and the hinge-making principles introduced can be applied to many other formats, including bracelets, necklaces, and more. The Company’s newest creation, Drumfolk, inspired by the Stono Rebellion of 1739, explores this little-known event in American history that forever transformed African-American life and culture. This workshop has been cancelled. Make a concertina sketchbook to fill with drawings and observations. Students will start by visiting the gallery and viewing the exhibit Layered Abstraction: Margo Allman and Helen Mason for inspiration and the proceed to the classroom the create covers and learn step-by-step instructions for assembling the sketchbook. The afternoon will be devoted the filling the pages with drawing and observations inspired by the Museum.
