Art Chat Weekly: Chords of Color - Postponed @ Zoom
This program has been postponed to July 9. Many American artists experimented with color theories in the early 20th century. Robert Henri, John Sloan, and George Bellows adopted the musically inspired color palettes of Hardesty Maratta around 1910. Their friends Charles and Alice Beach Winter built on Maratta’s system, creating stunning chromatic charts in the Museum’s archives. Here in Delaware, concert pianist and musical theorist Mary Hallock Greenewalt designed a “color organ” that projected colored light based on the keys she played. Come discuss these theories and the colorful characters behind them.  Registration required. After registration is complete, you will receive an email with a link...
