Reflecting on the work of Mitch Lyons, who expanded traditional clay techniques into a new form, Pyxis will pair Brahms’ magnificent Piano Quartet No. 3 with Pulitzer-winner Caroline Shaw’s piano quartet Thousandth Orange. Shaw says, “The thousandth orange you eat is just as extraordinary as the first,” and this evening is filled with music exploring how what seems new can draw boldly on what went before. 30-minute lunch break. Instructor: Caroline Coolidge Brown Using garden plants and simple materials, students will explore the possibilities of organic and geometric compositions to create a series of monotypes on the museum’s large etching press. Basic printmaking lessons in tearing paper, registering paper, mixing colors, and using the press will be covered.  All materials in this class are non-toxic. Supplies included.
