Make beautifully detailed etchings without using harmful chemicals! Solarplates are light-sensitized steel plates that are a simple, safe and fast alternative to traditional etchings with acids and solvents. Using a light box and soy based inks students will explore making using painterly styles and photographic transparencies. Basic printmaking lessons in tearing paper, registering paper, mixing colors, and using the press will be covered.  All materials in this class are non-toxic. Supplies included.

Using garden plants and simple materials, students will explore the possibilities of organic and geometric compositions to create a series of monotypes on the museum’s large etching press. Basic printmaking lessons in tearing paper, registering paper, mixing colors, and using the press will be covered.  All materials in this class are non-toxic. Supplies included.

Make elegantly comfortable rings by fusing sterling silver and gold. This workshop will cover simple band making to complex framing. Participants will also learn bench tricks for sizing and fitting in addition to single and double framing.
