Museum Guide Open House - Cancelled

Looking for a way to give back in your community? Hoping to inspire children with a love for art? Seeking new friendships with others who share a passion for learning?

Meet the incredible volunteer guides who lead tours of the Museum, and learn how they serve the public. Find out about the Museum’s in-depth Guide training program, which combines learning about art and teaching. Application information will be available.

Become a Museum Guide at the Delaware Art Museum!

Our creative, knowledgeable, and passionate Museum Guides are highly trained volunteers who share their love for art with Museum visitors. The training class will focus on engaging children, students, and adults with the Museum’s richly diverse art collections. Guides have special access to in-depth learning opportunities at the Museum, and they form strong bonds with their collegial and collaborative group of fellow Guides.

Museum Guide Training will be held on Tuesdays beginning in September. Museum Guides are required to give a minimum of two years’ service leading tours, after their training is complete. Tours are assigned around guides’ individual schedules, but the majority of tours take place on weekday mornings throughout the year. For details, contact awiggins@delart.org.

Gala – Postponed
Apr 18 all-day
Gala - Postponed

2020 is going to be a particularly busy and transformative year for the Museum. In the spring, the Museum staff will begin a full reinstallation of the first floor galleries and launch a new brand with a new website. A few weeks later they will break ground on constructing a new, more welcoming front entrance along with making a few improvements to the current one. Lastly, after all of the construction is complete, the Museum will host Louis Comfort Tiffany: Treasures from the Driehaus Collection exhibition in the fall.

With all of this excitement and a recent leadership transition, the Museum has decided to postpone the Gala until Spring 2021.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this rescheduling may have caused. Please check back with us in a few months for the Gala’s new date.

Conversations with Women Making a Difference – rescheduled to Oct 1
Apr 23 @ 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Conversations with Women Making a Difference - rescheduled to Oct 1

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the latest CDC recommendations, the Conversations with Women Making a Difference event on April 23 has been rescheduled to October 1, 2020. The panelists and all event details will remain the same. Tickets purchased for April 23 will be transferred to October 1. Please visit www.BlueBlaze.org for more information.

Join us on October 1, 2020 for “Conversations with Women Making a Difference” presented by Blue Blaze Associates.

Carol Arnott-Robbins, founder of NEWS4Women, will facilitate a panel discussion followed by a Q&A session. Topics will include career highlights, life stories, and hard-earned wisdom from three influential women. The three April panelists are:

Melody Phillips is Director of Operations for The Warehouse, a new teen center in northeast Wilmington that will open in April 2020. The Warehouse is part of a multi-million dollar community revitalization project, planned by REACH Riverside, offering comprehensive after-school opportunities for up to 700 teens. Melody serves as Chair of the Workforce Development Committee for REACH Riverside and is also Co-Founder and Board Chairwoman of I Am My Sister’s Keeper.

Latifa Ihsan Ali is a Muslim American fashion designer and entrepreneur who is passionate about helping women get active and keep modest. Her company, LiaWear Action, empowers Muslim women to pursue the activities they love. Latifa’s line of modest sportswear and hijab solutions encourage women to get out and run, jog, kick, bike, hike, swim, splash, dive, and dance their way to fitness.

Colleen Perry Keith is the new president of Goldey-Beacom College and the first woman to hold that position in the school’s 133-year history. Before coming to Delaware, Colleen served as president at Pfeiffer University in North Carolina and also at Spartanburg Methodist College in South Carolina. Her proven leadership and strong financial management were transformative at those institutions.

Bring your friends (including men!) to this fun and inspirational evening!

The event series is presented by Blue Blaze Associates and sponsored by NEWS4Women; all event proceeds are donated to local nonprofits. The 2020 partners and beneficiaries are the Delaware Art Museum and Fund for Women Delaware.

Conversations with Women Making a Difference
