Poetry Reading by Larry Kelts
Larry Kelts, a retired scientist and 2017 Delaware Division of the Arts fellowship recipient, will discuss and read some of his ekphrastic poetry—poetry inspired by works of art. Many of these poems will consider paintings in the Delaware Art Museum. The majority of the presentation considers Dante Gabriel Rossetti’s paintings in the Pre-Raphaelite Gallery. “Rossetti’s Muses” looks at Rossetti’s paintings as expressions of his inspiration and pursuit of art through painting and poetry. Poems on “Summertime,” “Trout Fishing,” and “The Mermaid” as well as several on imaginary works of art will also be read and discussed. Questions or comments will be welcome.
