“Eat Little and Live Long” a meal with Makeda Thomas

From the artist: “When a house fire destroyed my 100+ year old Brooklyn home earlier this year – and with it, not only the entire “analog” archive of my twenty year career in dance, but all of the research and documentation for my newest work – I grieved the loss of intellectual and cultural memory, and its impact on future work. More than before, I value embodied knowledges – not as ephemeral – but as the only true materiality.” “`Eat Little and Live Long’ is a new archive; a gathering that merges food, dance, and storytelling; an opportunity with artists and supporters of my work; a way to share and to practice; to make good on the ancestral knowledge to transform stories of loss into tales of togetherness”
