Art Camp

The Delaware Art Museum’s summer art camp provides a creative experience with professional instruction in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Young artists explore drawing, painting, ceramics, and more in the studio, galleries, and sculpture garden. Camp is full-day from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Each session ends with a camper art show for family and friends.

Ages 6–12: One Week Sessions

The Great Outdoors
June 8 –12 | $275 Members, $305 Non-Members
Landscapes, cityscapes, seascapes, and even the Museum’s outdoor sculptures will serve as inspiration for this session. Campers will capture the beauty of nature with a variety of mediums. Register: Ages 6–8 | Ages 9–12

Sculpture Mania
June 15 – 19 | $275 Members, $305 Non-Members
This session is all about carving, building, forming and sculpting! Campers will find inspiration in a variety of three-dimensional artworks on display in the Copeland Sculpture Garden and inside the Museum. Projects include nature installations and leaning towers. Register: Ages 6–8 | Ages 9–12

Artful Abstraction
August 17 – 21 | $275 Members, $305 Non-Members
Campers will explore the beauty of shape, line, and color to make nonrepresentational artwork. Projects include layered collages, unique paintings, and impressive sculptures made with unusual materials. Register: Ages 6–8 | Ages 9–12

Ages 6–12: Two Week Sessions

Animal Tales
June 22 – July 3 | $500 Members, $560 Non-Members
Come on an adventure through the Museum and explore animals in some of the Museum’s most beloved works of art! Artwork will be inspired by all kinds of animals, both real and imagined. Projects include ceramic figures, cut paper designs, and roaring masks. Register: Ages 6–8 | Ages 9–12

Junk to Gems
July 6 – 17 | $500 Members, $560 Non-Members
Create one of a kind treasure from ordinary materials! Campers will reconfigure everyday objects with creative twists to make unique works of art. Register: Ages 6–8 | Ages 9–12

Around the World
July 20 – 31 | $500 Members, $560 Non-Members
Travel the world through art! Campers will learn about a variety of cultures creating everything from ceramic vessels inspired by Ancient Greece to contemporary painted folk art. Register: Ages 6–8 | Ages 9–12

Cartoon Creations
August 3 – 14 | $500 Members, $560 Non-Members
Aspiring young illustrators will share their stories with original cartoon creations! The Museum’s one-of-a-kind illustration collection will serve as inspiration as campers create artwork full of imagination. Projects include illustrated color cartoons and 3D characters made out of clay. Register: Ages 6–8 | Ages 9–12

Ages 13 – 16: One Week Sessions

Make Your Own Comic Book
July 6 – 10 | $275 Members, $305 Non-Members
Create and publish an original comic book in this one-week session. Campers will start with character development, move into storyboarding, and end with a complete comic book inked, colored, and ready to share! Register

Teen Printmaking
July 13 – 17 | $275 Members, $305 Non-Members
Teens will unleash their creativity by exploring various approaches to printmaking including hand printing and using the studio’s etching press. Inspiration will be found in the Museum’s collection and the special exhibition Layered Abstraction: Margo Allman & Helen Mason. Register

Portfolio Prep
July 20 – 24 | $275 Members, $305 Non-Members
This summer intensive for teens will help those looking to keep their skills sharp and expand their art portfolio before the next school year begins. Register

THE RED APPLE FUND

The Delaware Art Museum is pleased to offer grants for Summer Art Camp through the Red Apple Fund for Student Enrichment. Full funding for tuition will be awarded to those who receive a Summer Art Camp Grant. All children registering for camp are eligible for scholarships unless an applicant has received funding from the Red Apple Fund in the past six months. Visit delart.org to apply online by April 13. The Red Apple Fund for Student Enrichment is supported by the Delaware Art Museum Council and generous individuals.

Registration & Policies

Due to the popularity of the Museum’s camp program, all Summer Art Camp sessions require written or online registration and payment. Registrations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
