Welcome to the Delaware Art Museum
from Executive Director, Danielle Rice
I hope to welcome many of the Delaware Art Museum’s Members to our Annual Members Meeting on Tuesday, May 13, at 5:30 p.m. in the DuPont Auditorium. After presenting some of our 2007 triumphs and our plans for the future, we will elect new Trustees and Officers. Afterwards, I want to say hello to as many Members as possible during a wine and cheese reception! Please mark your calendars!

The Botero exhibition has received enthusiastic accolades from Members and out-of-town visitors alike. Many people have been attracted to the Museum by our recent billboards on I-95. Visitors are impressed before they even enter by the three massive sculptures in the Copeland Sculpture Garden, and they are truly delighted by what they find once they step inside. Don’t miss our special Botero Family Day on May 4, which includes performances by Toxique Trottoir, a dance troupe that dresses in gigantic, Botero-inspired costumes! I’d like to thank long-time Museum Member Lillian Shah for sending in the comment that made all of us tingle with joy. She wrote on April 3, 2008: “Your Botero exhibition is now in my lifetime top three—along with the Matisse at the Pompidou and the Modigliani at the Luxembourg. My husband, our friends and I saw the show on Sunday. It was stunning. Thrilling!” We are deeply honored.

We take your comments seriously, so please feel free to send them in by e-mailing us at feedback@delart.org!
As many Members may know, we launched our Spring Giving Campaign in mid-April. Your contributions are absolutely vital, and they help us to put on all of the great shows and educational programs you’ve been reading about. So we are especially grateful for those of you who responded enthusiastically and promptly to our pleas for support. Special thanks to Dennison Hatch Sr., Mr. and Mrs. K. Peter Hurd, Mr. and Mrs. William Lafferty, and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph E. Pearce for being among the first to respond with very generous gifts to our letter!
Thank you all for all that you do to make the Delaware Art Museum a world-class institution!
See you soon!
