To celebrate the first concert of their new season, the musicians—Meredith Amado, violin; Amy Leonard, viola; Jie Jin, cello; and Hiroko Yamazaki, piano—have created an exciting program blending romantic, modern, contemporary, and popular sounds, including Stravinsky’s Suite Italienne, Schumann’s Fairy Tales, Josef Suk’s Piano Quartet, and two powerful evocations of Argentine Tango by Astor Piazzola.

Gu in color

One of the greatest living practitioners of German Lieder, Gudrun Bühler will perform songs by Hugo Wolf, Mozart, and selections from Arnold Schoenberg’s 1908 song cycle, The Book of the Hanging Gardens, based on poetry by Stefan George. George was profoundly influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites and translated the work of Dante Gabriel Rossetti into German. Bühler’s recital will conclude with Lullaby by British composer Cyril Scott, based on poetry by Christina RossetGu in colorti.
