The Delaware Art Museum’s summer art camp program provides a creative experience with professional instruction in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Young artists explore drawing, painting, ceramics and more in the Bank of America Education Wing studios as well as the Museum galleries and Copeland Sculpture Garden. Camp is full-day from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Each session ends with a camper art show for family and friends.
Two-Week Sessions (Ages 6 – 12)
June 11 – 22 | $500 for Members, $560 for Non-Members
This session is all about carving, building, forming, and sculpting! Campers will find inspiration in a variety of three-dimensional artworks on display in the Copeland Sculpture Garden and inside the Museum. Projects include ceramic sculptures, nature installations, and leaning towers.
July 9 – 20 | $500 for Members, $560 for Non-Members
Come on an adventure and discover animals in some of the Museum’s most beloved works of art! Artwork will be inspired by all kinds of animals, both real and imagined. Projects include ceramic figures, cut paper designs, and roaring masks.
Myth & Magic
July 23 – August 3 | $500 for Members, $560 for Non-Members
Campers will go on an epic adventure and envision their own fantastical worlds as they delve into stories from all over the globe. Projects include “far far away” landscapes and mythological clay creatures.
August 6 – 17 | $500 for Members, $560 for Non-Members
Aspiring young illustrators will share their stories with original cartoon creations! The Museum’s one-of-a-kind illustration collection will serve as inspiration as campers create artwork full of imagination. Projects include illustrated colorful cartoons and 3D characters made out of clay.

Pirates & Mermaids
June 25 – 29 | $275 Members, $305 for Non-Members
Dive deep into some of the Museum’s most beloved paintings of pirates and mermaids. Campers will create a collection of adventurous artwork using various mediums.
Cabinet of Curiosities
July 2 – 6 (no camp July 4) | $225 Members, $255 for Non-Members
This session will use mixed media and assemblage to create original works of art that uncover the many wonders of the world.
AGES 13 –16
New this year! The Museum is offering one-week sessions for teenage students. Fun themes and content will advance young artists and keep them creatively engaged during the summer.
Make Your Own Comic Book
June 18 – 22 | $275 Members, $305 for Non-Members
Create and publish an original comic book during this one-week session. Campers will start with character development, move into storyboarding, and end with a complete comic book inked, colored, and ready to share!
Capture It! Documenting with Photography
August 6 – 10 | $275 Members, $305 for Non-Members
Inspired by exhibiting artist Hank Willis Thomas, campers will meet offsite at the 4Youth Productions Lab to explore photography, technology, personal identity, and history.
Due to the popularity of the Museum’s camp program, all Summer Art Camp sessions require written or online registration and payment. A medical information form is also required. Registrations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
THE RED APPLE FUND
The Delaware Art Museum is pleased to offer grants for Summer Art Camp through the Red Apple Fund for Student Enrichment. Full funding for tuition will be awarded to those who receive a Summer Art Camp Grant. All children registering for camp are eligible for scholarships unless an applicant has received funding from the Red Apple Fund in the past six months. To apply, please complete a Red Apple Summer Art Camp Grant application available here and a art camp registration form by April 9, 2018.
