Why Membership Matters

Members are the backbone of this institution. Their annual Membership dues are a reliable source of support every year, helping the Museum to provide exhibitions and programs of the highest quality. Members also serve to drive attendance to the Museum through frequent visitation (Members enjoy year-round free admission) and also by encouraging those in their social circle to visit. Because Members receive regular updates from the Museum through such publications as the Members Newsletter and the electronic E-Bulletin, they are among the first to know about the Museum’s programs, which allows them to be excellent advocates for us.

By becoming a Member, individuals also help preserve a vital part of this region’s history, including:

  • The art of Wilmington-native Howard Pyle and his students
  • America’s largest British Pre-Raphaelite collection, assembled by Wilmington textile manufacturer Samuel Bancroft, Jr.
  • The world’s largest art and archival collection of John Sloan, donated by his widow Helen Farr Sloan, a longtime Wilmington resident
