The Possibilities of Pause: Delaware Women’s Conference 2009 Juried Exhibition

March 7, 2009 – April 19, 2009

The Possibilities of Pause showcases the variety of means that women in Delaware use in harnessing their energies, consolidating their thoughts, distilling their feelings, and unleashing their imagination to give form to their creative musings. Part of the Museum’s Outlooks Exhibition Series, this display of paintings, drawings, photographs, and sculptural pieces includes works by artists who are academically trained or self-taught. Some works testify to the legacies of landscape painting (particularly that of the psychologically inflected work of the late Andrew Wyeth) and of American illustration distinctly established by the Brandywine tradition.

The Juror/Guest Curator for this exhibition is Carina Evangelista, the Gretchen Hupfel Curator of Contemporary Art at the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts. Lums Pond, 2008
