Teacher Workshop: Writing and the Visual Arts
This workshop, open to all K-12 teachers, explores how the study of works of visual art can stimulate increased writing, reading, and linguistic skills. Participants will work in the galleries guided by an art historian, a professional writing teacher, and a dancer to understand the history of the relationship between images and words. Teachers will also be given images for use in their classrooms to generate writing among their students. This workshop will show the relevance of the visual arts to English, world languages, the humanities, and the Sciences, along with addressing anchor standards 1, 5, and 7.
