Reading between the Lines of Time and Space: Remediation and the Illustrated Periodical

Professor Lorraine Janzen Kooistra of Ryerson University and Co-Director for the Centre for Digital Humanities at Ryerson will explore the combination of images and text at the margins of periodical pages, intersections of representation, and Victorian-illustrated periodicals. Kooistra’s talk will discuss how the 19th-century press relates to today’s technology and culture. Following the lecture, guests are invited to attend a cocktail reception with remarks by Delaware Art Museum Chief Curator Margaretta Frederick. This lecture is provided by the Research Society for Victorian Periodicals’ annual conference.
