From Drawing to Painting

Starting with drawing and transitioning into painting, students of all levels will explore a variety of subjects through still lifes and photographs in this relaxed class. Participants progress to a medium of their choosing and receive plenty of individual attention.

Watercolor Sketching

Learn basic techniques to get started keeping a personalized illustrated journal. Students will feel refreshed after interpreting their surroundings with pen and watercolor.

Beginning Drawing

Learn basic drawing techniques and gain an understanding of composition, form, line, and perspective. Working from life is the basis of this course, but individual expression is the goal.

Watercolors

This watercolor class is designed to provide students with the necessary skills to take command of their watercolor paintings. Classes will cover materials, techniques, and paint application methods that keep watercolors fresh and airy.

Landscape Painting

Using photographic reference and looking at examples of historic and contemporary landscape painting, students will learn how to compose outdoor scenery. Methods and materials will be tailored to each student’s individual interests. Weather permitting, students will also have the opportunity to paint en plein air.

Painting

This is a good basic course for beginning and intermediate painters interested in acrylic or oil painting. The instructor will advise students on materials and methods while providing individual instruction tailored to each student’s particular needs and interests. The class will study various artists for inspiration.

Portrait Painting

Saturdays, September 19 – October 17 (5 weeks)
9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
$190 Members, $215 Non-Members

Using oil paint and working directly from live models, students will complete two portraits. Emphasized topics include seeing light and shade, mixing flesh tones, typical facial proportions, and the chemistry of oil paint. Enjoy demonstrations and plenty of individual instruction. Model fee included.
