From Drawing to Painting

Starting with drawing and transitioning into painting, students of all levels will explore a variety of subjects through still lifes and photographs in this relaxed class. Students progress to a medium of their choosing and receive plenty of individual attention.

For students who have completed Beginner Drawing, this class will take their drawing to the next level. Participants use drawing mediums of their choice to hone skills and develop a style.

This watercolor class is designed to provide students with the necessary skills to take command of their watercolor paintings. Classes will cover materials, techniques, and paint application methods that keep watercolors fresh and airy.

Oil Painting

Learn the fundamentals of oil painting using photographs or still lifes as inspiration. A combination of light, shadow, and color will be the basis of capturing form and creating composition. In addition to the basics, different techniques and paint applications will be taught based on the individual interests of each student.

Offering a clear, step-by-step approach to drawing and painting, students of all levels will progress according to their own interests and needs. Art history and theory will be discussed and inform student work.

Expressionistic Painting

Color, shape, and brushstrokes can loosen up artwork and move away from realistic painting towards expressionistic painting. This class is designed for all artists, from adventurous beginners to advanced artists who need a fresh perspective.

Continuing Watercolors

Post-beginner to advanced students will continue to learn about watercolors and refine their skills with individual attention from the instructor and in-class demonstrations.This session will focus on a winter-inspired color palette and winter landscapes in addition to drapery and folds.

This course is geared toward beginner and intermediate painters interested in acrylic or gouache painting.
