The Office of Rights and Reproductions processes requests for images of permanent collection works as well as materials from the Helen Farr Sloan Library. Requests can be made for personal use, printed and electronic publications, film, and other media.

Many images from the permanent collection are also available through Bridgeman Art Library, bridgemanart.com. All images for John Sloan must be accessed through the Artists Rights Society, arsny.com.

COPYRIGHT RESTRICTIONS

Copyright restrictions on many works of art prohibit their being made available without prior written permission from the copyright holder.

The Delaware Art Museum will make every effort to inform applicants of copyrights and other restrictions that may apply to the works of art being reproduced. However, it cannot warrant that all photographic materials furnished may be freely reproduced in the absence of such notification. Institutions or individuals may claim ownership and control of copyright or reproduction rights of certain works of art.

It is the responsibility of those intending to publish photographic materials furnished by the Delaware Art Museum to ascertain what claims there may be and to assume the responsibility of compliance with the pertinent copyright restrictions.

NOTE: All copyright requests for John Sloan and Helen Farr Sloan are now being handled through the Artists Rights Society (ARS). Please contact ARS directly for further information (www.arsny.com).

Request An Image

To request images of Permanent Collection or Library material, please click the link below for the Rights and Reproductions Application. Complete and submit the form. The Office of Rights and Reproductions will then review and process your request. Fees may apply depending on images requested and intended use. All images are provided as digital files. If an alternate image format is needed (such as color transparencies or negatives) please contact the Office of Rights and Reproductions after submitting the application. Additional fees will apply for alternate formats.

Please note that requests are processed on a first come, first served basis and the processing can take up to a month. The Office of Rights and Reproductions will make every effort to meet deadlines, but does not guarantee delivery of images by any specific date.

Payment and Fees

All payments must be in U.S. dollars written on a U.S. bank. The Fee Guide below gives an idea of applicable fees. However, fees are subject to change and are assigned at the discretion of the Office of Rights and Reproductions. The following methods of payment are accepted:

  • Money order
  • Personal or business check in U.S. dollars written on a U.S. bank check
  • American Express, VISA, MasterCard or Discover
