Education Assistant – PT 19 hrs/wk

The Delaware Art Museum is seeking an energetic individual to assist with the coordination of its educational programs. The Education Assistant will maintain organizational and clerical support systems for Education Department, process studio class registrations, and schedule/oversee department interns and volunteers. Other tasks include assistance with group tours, supporting the Education Department staff with day-to-day activities, conducting art projects, and overseeing programs as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Maintaining tour program records/statistics and quarterly and annual reports.
- In concert with Studio and Family Programs Manager, coordinates studio art program class registrations and associated confirmations; sales for public Education Department events and programs.
- In concert with Studio and Family Programs Manager, prepares quarterly and annual reports.
- Schedule/oversee department interns and volunteers, attending volunteer fairs as needed.
- Manages department files and coordinates group tour and other education mailings.
- Other duties as needed to maintain the department and the museum.
- Working hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 12:00 p.m. (evenings/weekends may be required)
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree, background and/or interest in art education, or equivalent experience in a museum or non-profit environment.
- Superior customer service skills.
- Computer proficiency including database management, spreadsheets, and word processing.
- Volunteer management skills
- Communication skills, including writing and editing ability
Other Qualifications:
- Excellent organizational skills - ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to maintain accurate computerized records and reports.
- Ability to work with diverse audiences, including children and family programming, and adults
- Interpersonal skills
- Creativity and attention to detail
- Knowledge and use of social media tools to promote Education programs
- Willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
- Ability to follow through on long and short term projects and work under deadline
MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinates and supervises departmental volunteers.
SUPERVISES INDIRECTLY:
Studio Art Instructors, Docents, and Interns.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Helps monitor studio art program income and expense budgets. Assists in monitoring education program budget
